Senior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) was victorious at the top singles flight, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team narrowly dropped its NE10 opener to in-state rival Franklin Pierce University, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the FPU Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Nadeau outlasted Joe Herin, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
- Sophomore Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) was a 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 winner against Ralph Hiebel at No. 3 singles.
- Freshman Sebastian Eckert (Wernigerode, Germany) defeated Paul McLellan, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Junior Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) dropped a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 decision to Alejandro Ortiz at No. 4 singles.
- Freshman Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) also lost a three-set affair against Orlando Guerrero at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4).
- Southern New Hampshire is 0-2 for the time since 2009-10.
- SNHU still leads the all-time series with FPU, 19-4, as the Ravens halt a five-match losing streak against the Penmen. SNHU dips to 7-2 in Rindge, with FPU winning on its home court for the first time since March 30, 2021 (5-1).
