Junior Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) won both of his matches, but it was not enough, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Adelphi University on Saturday at the Point Set Racquet Club.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Roeder recorded a 6-1, 7-5 victory against Rodrigo Ochoa at No. 5 singles. He also partnered with sophomore Albert Modol (Lleida, Spain) on a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles over Elouan Boyer and Yannick Stolz.
NOTES
- Senior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) put up a fierce fight at the top flight against Marko Jovanovic, falling 7-6 (7-3), 6-4. He and sophomore Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) were also narrowly defeated at the top doubles flight by Hugo Munoz Reinoso and Reece Farrow, 7-5.
- Williams also battled at No. 3 singles, but was outlasted by Munoz Reinoso, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
- Freshman Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) was edged by Casey Recci at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-4.
- Southern New Hampshire is 0-3 for the time since 2009-10.
- SNHU continues to lead the all-time series with the Panthers, 11-8. The Penmen have won eight of the last 13 meetings, though Adelphi has now won five of the last six, including four straight. Adelphi has also captured three of its last four at home against the Penmen.
