#7 Field Hockey Takes Down Adelphi In OT for Fourth Straight Win

Sophomore Minke van de Poll (Oosterbeek, Netherlands) scored in overtime to lift #7 SNHU Field Hockey to a fourth consecutive win, 3-2, at Adelphi Saturday.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS KEY MOMENTS
  • Christis made a beautiful play to give the Penmen a 1-0 lead just a little over a minute into the contest.  van de Poll sent a long pass to Christis, who faked the goalie and scored into the empty cage.
  • Christis gave SNHU a 2-0 lead early in the third quarter when she scored on a reverse off a cross from Paradzick.
  • Kelly Johnson converted off a turnover for Adelphi to make it 2-1, and the Panthers tied the game five minutes later on a goal by Emiline Biggin.
  • Just before the winning goal, Adelphi had a penalty corner and missed wide on a couple of shots.
  • SNHU sent a long pass ahead to van de Poll near the center circle, who then fed Wiersma.  Wiersma sent a pass to the left side to van de Poll who scored with 2:46 to play in the extra session.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Adelphi had a 24-15 shot advantage, but SNHU had the edge of 10-9 shots on goal.
  • The Panthers had 12 penalty corners to just two for the Penmen.
NOTES
  • Christis, who has 12 goals this season, has scored two goals in six of the seven games this season.  She ranks second in the nation with 12 goals.
  • Christis is SNHU's all-time leading scorer with 97 points.
  • The Penmen won at Adelphi for the first time in program history.  SNHU's two previous wins over the Panthers both occurred at home, including 3-1 last season.
  • SNHU went into overtime for the first time since 10/11/23 when they won 2-1 at Bentley on a goal by Eliza Bates (Newport, N.H.).
  • The Penmen are 3-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2019 season when they won the first four league games.
