Dillon Labonte Wins First Men's Cross Country Race of 2024

Penmen Finished Fourth at Hartford Saturday

When and Where: September 7, 2024– (Hartford, Conn.) -  1st Annual Univ. of Hartford Cross Country Invitational
Distance:  Men's race, 5,000m
Results: Southern New Hampshire University – 4th of 12 (91)
Junior Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) opened the season by winning the race and the Penmen tallied a fourth-place finish at the University of Hartford on Saturday.

SNHU RUNNERS
  • Labonte finished in 15:49.7.
  • Junior Collins Kibet (Iten, Kenya) – 16:55.7 for 13th place.  It was his first cross-country run for the Penmen.
  • Sophomore Brett Trainor (North Chelmsford, Mass.) was 23rd at 17:30 .2.
  • Junior Zak Laverdiere (Seekonk, Mass.) also scored for the Penmen with a run of 18:33.1 (47th place).
  • Sophomore Austin Thorp (Richmond, R.I.) finished in 18:33.4 for 48th place.
NOTES 
  • The event was contested at 5,000 meters.
  • Bentley University won the meet (28 points), with host University of Hartford (74) and University of New Haven (76 points) ahead of the Penmen.
  • The competition was the first at Southern New Hampshire University for Jacob Simon, Head Cross Country Coach.
