Women's Soccer Secures 2-0 Victory over Mercy

Orloff, Schofield Score Goals in SNHU win Sunday

Graduate student Nida Orloff (Leicester, Mass.) and junior Carly Schofield (Plymouth, Mass.) scored goals as Women's Soccer topped Mercy 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Queens College Conference Challenge.

KEY MOMENTS
 
  • The first half produced few opportunities for either squad, but SNHU found the net in the closing 30 seconds to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Freshman Sam Torres (Schenectady, N.Y.) sent a long feed in from the left side, which caromed off a defender onto the foot of Orloff for the easy clean-up goal.
  • In the 54th minute, the Penmen extended the lead to 2-0 as Schofield received a pass from Anderson for the goal.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Keith recorded her second clean sheet in two games.
  • The Penmen had an 8-7 shot advantage including 5-3 on goal.
  • Mercy had a 3-2 edge on corner kicks.
NOTES
  • The Penmen improve to 5-3-2 against the Mavericks.  SNHU won 4-1 at Penmen Stadium last season.
  • The goal for Orloff was the fifth of her career while Schofield's goal was her tenth.  She had nine last season to lead the Penmen.
