Ice Hockey Drops 7-2 Decision to Saint Anselm Saturday

Records: SNHU 6-8-1 (5-4-1 NE10), Saint Anselm 7-6-2 (6-3-1 NE10)

Sophomore Stone Devlin (W. Falmouth, Mass.) and senior Ryan Clear (Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored goals but SNHU Men's Ice Hockey fell 7-2 at Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Arena in Manchester.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•    Devlin – goal
•    Clear – goal
•    Junior Tyler Murray (Barre, Vt.) – assist

KEY MOMENTS
•    The Hawks scored the only goal of the first period and made it 2-0 early in the second with a power-play score by Mark Blaney.
•    Devlin cut the Saint Anselm lead to 2-1, taking a pass from Murray, skating into the Hawk zone, and burying his slap shot into the left corner.
•    The Hawks extended the margin to 5-1 with three goals within a five minute span of the second period.
•    Clear tallied with 1:09 to play with a slap shot, his fourth goal of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
•    Sophomore Sean Guerin (Chicago, Ill.) made 28 saves for the Penmen.
•    Cam Carroll had 38 saves for the Hawks.
•    SNHU finished 0-for-5 on the power-play and the Hawks were 1-for-5.
•    The Penmen had a 39-33 face-off advantage.

NOTES
•    Saint Anselm leads the all-time series with the Penmen 44-13-3.   
•    The Hawks move to within one point of first place Assumption in the Northeast-10.  SNHU is in fourth place with 15 points, two behind third-place Saint Michael's College.
•    Devlin scored his second goal of the season and fifth of his career.
