Abby Wager (Mansfield, Mass.) scored 14, but Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball dropped a 69-66 decision to Saint Anselm College on Tuesday at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
• Saint Anselm controlled the early action thanks to four field goals by Melanie Hoyt. The Penmen rallied to even the score at 13-13 on a Gordon three-pointer.
• The Hawks then scored 11 straight points and led 24-18 at the end of the first quarter.
• The Penmen were down 15 but rallied with the final seven points of the first half to make it 38-30. Hughes hit a jumper and a layup and then came up with a rebound of a Hawk miss to give SNHU a final shot. Wager launched from 35 feet and it caromed in at the buzzer.
• Saint Anselm held a 20-18 advantage in the third quarter to lead 58-48.
• The Penmen opened the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run and trailed 60-58 after Davis hit a layup and free throw.

Samantha Pfeil (Methuen, Mass.) hit two key free throws with 2:25 to play to make it 67-66 but the Hawks answered with a pair of free throws by Hoyt.

Kameron St. Pierre (Swansea, Mass.) to tie fell short with 15 seconds remaining, and Saint Anselm would run out the clock.

• Pfeil finished with four points (1-2 FG, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds.

Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass) scored two points and pulled down four rebounds. DeVries took her career's first two three-point field goals with time running out on SNHU possessions.
• Freshman
Taylor Brennan (Southbury, Conn.) had four points (2-4 FG) with four rebounds and three assists.
• St. Pierre and sophomore
Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) each hit a three-pointer, and junior
Matilde Baron (Vicenza, Italy) had one bucket for two points.
• Brennan tallied four points (1-7 FG, 1-5 3-FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and four assists.
• Southern New Hampshire outshot Saint Anselm, 50.0 percent (27-54) to 42.21 percent (26-61). Both teams went 6-for-24 from three-point range. The Penmen hit on all six free throws and the Hawks hit 1-of-13 (84.6%).
• The Penmen captured the glass (31-30), had an edge on fast break points (10-4), and won scoring in the paint (32-20). The Hawks had more points off turnovers (12-11), more second-chance points (11-3), and more points from its bench (18-16).
NOTES
• The Penmen have dropped consecutive games for the first time since early November.
• Saint Anselm has a 53-25 edge in the all-time series although the Penmen had won four straight and six of the last seven.
• Gordon followed up her 23 points last Saturday at Adelphi with 19 and leads the team at 12.0 points per game. Her 6.8 rebounds per game are also tops on the squad.
• SNHU dipped to 68-33 (.673) since the 2021-22 season started.
