Senior Claudia Keith (Danvers, Mass.) turned aside a career-high 12 shots on goal, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw with No. 22 Franklin Pierce University in Northeast 10 Conference play Saturday afternoon at Ouellette Stadium.
KEY MOMENT
- Keith and the Penmen defense stood tall during a tense final five minutes, when Franklin Pierce earned four corner kicks and fired four shots in rapid succession. Keith made three point-blank saves in that span, including a diving stop in the 85th minute, to secure her third shutout of the year.
NOTES
- Franklin Pierce owned a 21-9 advantage in shots, including a 12-4 edge in shots on goal, and held a 12-5 margin in corner kicks.
- Keith notched her third shutout of the season and the 19th of her career. The 12 saves were a career-high. Her previous high of nine saves came in last season's 1-0 win at Franklin Pierce a year ago (10/12/2024). Keith now ranks fourth in program history with 19 shutouts, passing her predecessor Hannah Rose (2018-22), who had 18.
- Sophomore Emma Noheimer (Mansfield, Conn.) led the Penmen with four shots, including two on frame, while senior Georgia Greene (Clifton Park, N.Y.) added two attempts, one that forced a diving stop in the 65th minute.
- The Penmen picked up a key point in the NE10 play, but they have been failed to score in three games (309 minutes).
- SNHU has now met four nationally-ranked teams this season, with a match looming with 13th-ranked Mercy University on Wednesday.
- SNHU and Franklin Pierce have now played to a tie for just the third time in the all-time series (SNHU trails 13-29-3). The teams also tied the last time they had met at SNHU in 2023.
