Sophomore Vicente Preto (Sesimbra, Portugal) clinched the doubles point at the top flight and then clinched the match with his No. 1 singles victory, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team edged Franklin Pierce University, 4-3, Saturday at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
KEY MOMENT
- SNHU led, 3-2, when Preto downed Ruben Minguez, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
NOTES
- Preto also combined with junior Albert Modol (Lleida, Spain) to clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 over Minguez and Martin Dominguez.
- Preto is a perfect 6-0 in dual matches this season, while Sophomore Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) is now 4-0.
- Junior Carlos Molero (Barcelona, Spain) is 5-1 in dual matches.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with FPU, 20-6, and has captured six of the last nine, but also vanquishes a three-match losing streak against the Ravens, who secured a trio of 4-3 victories last season. The Penmen have also won four of five against FPU at home, where they have a 13-2 record against the Ravens.
