The Southern New Hampshire University men's ice hockey team received a season-best performance from junior goaltender Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.), who turned aside 48 shots, but the Penmen dropped a 3–1 decision to Assumption University on Saturday night in Northeast 10 Conference action.
The win sets up a Saturday rematch between the two teams, also in Worcester.
KEY MOMENT
Trailing 1–0 entering the third, SNHU pressed heavily and cut the deficit to 2–1 when freshman Bryan Kim (Calgary, Alberta) scored his first collegiate goal on the power play at 17:48. The Penmen continued to attack with the net empty, but Assumption countered with an empty-net tally at 18:41 to put the game out of reach.
NOTES
- Berke's 48 saves marked a season high and the second-highest total of his collegiate career.
- Kim's goal was his first for the Penmen and came with assists from sophomore Dillon Phillips (Raleigh, N.C.) and senior Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ont.).
- SNHU's power play went 1-for-8, while the Penmen penalty kill held Assumption to 1-for-6.
- Assumption goalie Michael Salvatore made 42 saves and Jake DiNapoli tallied twice.
- The Penmen had won three straight against the Greyhounds and the all-time series is tied again at 45-45-5.

- SNHU returns to action Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. when the Penmen face Westfield State at O'Brien Rink in Woburn, Mass. The teams will partner for a "Hockey For Hunger" event and collect non-perishable food donations at the door.
