The fifth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team saw its season draw to a close in the NE10 Championship quarterfinals with a 2-0 defeat against fourth-seeded Adelphi University on Sunday afternoon at Motamed Field.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire had ended the regular season being unbeaten in five of its last seven (3-2-2).
- SNHU is now 9-13-2 (.435) in the NE10 Championship in 16 all-time appearances, including 1-3-0 against Adelphi. The Panthers also ended the season for the Penmen in 2023 with a 1-0 semifinal win at home.
- Senior Claudia Keith (Danvers, Mass.) made four saves for SNHU.
- Adelphi outshot SNHU, 22-2, including 6-2 in shots on target.
- The match was scoreless until late in the 76th minute when the Panthers struck first, before doubling their lead with an insurance marker just 3:21 later.
- Adelphi leads the all-time series, 22-12-2, as it is unbeaten in 11 of the last 15 against SNHU (10-4-1). The Penmen defeated the Panthers, 1-0, at home just eight days ago for the first time since Sept. 12, 2021 to snap a four-match skid. The Panthers have won eight straight at home against SNHU and are unbeaten in the last nine meetings there (8-0-1). The last time the Penmen left Garden City with a win was Oct. 8, 2011 (4-1).
