Brennan Scores Career-High 14 as Penmen Battle in Road Setback at Assumption

Strong first half and balanced scoring highlight Women's Basketball in NE10 matchup

Sophomore Taylor Brennan (Southbury, Conn.) turned in a career-best performance, scoring 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team dropped an 80-67 Northeast 10 matchup at Assumption on Saturday afternoon.
KEY MOMENTS   
  • SNHU opened the game with confidence, shooting 47 percent in the first quarter and taking a 22-20 lead.  Brennan scored seven points in the first ten minutes.
  • The game featured nine ties and nine lead changes in the first half before Assumption closed the second quarter on a small run to take a 41-39 advantage into the break.
  • The Greyhounds outscored the Penmen 39-28 in the second half to secure the victory.
NOTES
  • Senior captain Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) produced an efficient outing with a team-high 15 points on 7-for-17 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds and two assists.
  • Junior Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) added 13 points, including 2-for-5 from beyond the arc, along with a block and a steal.
  • Sophomore Kameron St. Pierre (Swansea, Mass.) provided nine points, five assists, and two rebounds in 21 minutes.
  • Freshman Aniela Kwo (Haverhill, Mass.) delivered a strong effort on the glass with five rebounds and four points.
  • SNHU shared the ball well, finishing with 15 assists on 27 made field goals, and knocked down nine three-pointers.
  • Assumption leads the all-time series with the Penmen 39-23.  SNHU had won both games last season.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen return to action Friday, Dec. 19 (1:00 p.m.)  when they take on Mercy University at the Florida Tech Holiday Festival in Melbourne, Fla.
  • SNHU is not back home until Sunday, Jan. 4 (1:30 p.m.) when it plays host to American International College at the Stan Spirou Field House.
