Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) was the lone Penmen scorer in double figures with 13 points, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team was handed a 76-56 defeat by Pace University on Saturday afternoon at the Goldstein Athletics Center.

KEY MOMENTS
- In back-and-forth opening quarter, Southern New Hampshire used three points from junior Matilde Baron (Vicenza, Italy) during a 5-0 spurt that gave it a 12-8 advantage with just over a minute to play. SNHU would lead, 12-10, at the end of one.
- The Penmen had equaled their largest lead of the game at four with under four minutes to go in the second stanza when Pace ended the half with a 10-1 blitz that gave it a 29-24 gap heading to the break.
- The Setters picked up where they left off to begin the second half, scoring eight straight as part of an 11-2 rush that ballooned the lead to 40-26 just over three minutes into the third quarter. Pace would later score seven straight to open an 18-point margin with 1:35 remaining and wound up bringing a 56-38 lead into the final frame.
- The hosts kept their foot on the gas, using a 14-3 flurry to grab their largest lead of the contest at 72-45 with 3:47 to play. SNHU responded, however, with nine-in-a-row – led by three from freshman Taylor Brennan (Southbury, Conn.) – to trim its deficit to 72-54 with 1:32 remaining, but that was as close as it would get.

- Sophomore Madison Hughes (Columbia, Conn.) netted seven points (2-7 FG, 1-3 3-FG, 2-3 FT) and grabbed four rebounds.
- Baron scored seven points (2-4 FG, 3-3 FT) and coralled a pair of rebounds.
- Senior Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) posted six points (3-10 FG) and three boards.
- Sophomore Abby Wager (Mansfield, Mass.) tallied five points (5-6 FT), eight rebounds and three assists.
- Brennan registered five points (1-1 FG, 3-3 FT), two rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Freshman Samantha Pfeil (Methuen, Mass.) added five points (1-3 FG, 1-3 3-FG, 2-2 FT) and a pair of rebounds.
- Graduate student Stephanie Davis (Windham, N.H.) chipped in four points (2-2 FG).
- Pace outshot Southern New Hampshire, 46 percent (29-63) to 33.3 percent (17-51), including 45.8 percent (11-24) to 22.2 percent (4-18) from downtown. SNHU was plus-11 from the stripe and shot it better, 81.8 percent (18-22) to 53.8 percent (7-13).
- The Setters won the glass (37-32), scored more points off turnovers (19-13) and on the fast break (6-0), received more scoring from their bench (26-21) and turned in a more impressive assist-to-turnover ratio (18/13-8/18). Points in the paint (24-24) and second chance points (7-7) were even.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has dropped five of its last six.
- Pace leads the all-time series, 23-13, and wins for the second time in the last three meetings, though the Penmen have taken four of the last six, including a 55-54 win at home back on Jan. 5. SNHU had won two straight on the road against the Setters, who defeat the Penmen on their home floor for the first time since Jan. 29, 2022 (75-66).
SNHU drops to 69-36 (.657) since the 2021-22 season started.
