Nater Wachter (Concord, N.H.) homered twice, driving in six runs, and junior
Austin Trumpour (Jensen Beach, Fla.) threw six innings of scoreless, two-hit ball in SNHU baseball's 16-0 win over Queens (N.Y.) to open the 2025 season Thursday in Myrtle Beach.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Penmen scored at least four runs in three different innings.
- SNHU took a 4-0 lead in the second inning, loading the bases on two walks and a hit-by-pitch. Colon beat out an infield single and Risedorf doubled home three runs with his opposite field hit into the left field corner.
- Risedorf went back to the left field corner with a triple to start the fifth and Wachter followed with his first home run, a towering shot to right center field to make it 6-0.
- Marshall, who had two long fly outs in his first two at bats, doubled, sophomore Ruben Fernandez (Providence, R.I.) was hit-by-a-pitch. Senior Shane McNamara (Londonderrry, N.H.) doubled home one run, and a sacrifice fly by Leone drove in Fernandez.
- The Penmen sent 13 men to the plate, scoring seven times in the top of the sixth inning. Colon reached on an error, Risedorf walked, and Wachter homered again to right center field and before the inning ended it was 15-0.
- Wachter's sixth RBI of the game, a sacrifice in the top of the eighth inning made it 16-0.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Five of the nine batters in SNHU's starting line-up were playing for the first time for the Penmen and four of the five had hits (Colon, Leone, McNamara, and Marshall).
- Trumpour set down the Knights in order in each of the first three innings before Mike Vilardi led off the fourth with a double down the left field line. Vilardi had another double in the sixth inning, and the only other hit for Queens was also a double- by Nick O'Conner.
- Trumpour threw 77 pitches (52 strikes) in his six innings, striking out nine.
- Each SNHU reliever threw a scoreless inning in relief - freshman Garrett Hammer (Auburn, N.H.), sophomore Jack Davis (LaGrangeville, N.Y.), and freshman Kaleb Fiscus (Huntington Beach, Calif.).
NOTES
- The Penmen improve to 9-1 all-time against Queens - the loss came in Myrtle Beach last season 4-1.
- SNHU is ranked 10th in the nation in the NCBWA poll released on February 19.
- Wachter was second on the Penmen with nine home runs last season as a freshman, and this was his first multi-homer game. Six RBI's is also a career-high.
- The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach is hosting teams from the NCAA Division II East Region over four days (Feb. 20-Feb. 23) including several from the Northeast-10 Conference.
- The teams faced difficult weather conditions for the opener with the 5:33 p.m. first pitch temperature at 33 degrees with a strong northwest wind.
