Southern New Hampshire University baseball hit five home runs in Sunday's 8-1 win over St. Thomas Aquinas College. The 10th-ranked Penmen finished the season-opening trip to Myrtle Beach with a 4-1 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saint Thomas scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second off SNHU's starter, junior Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.). Joseph Scamardella singled home Kyle DeCresce, who had led off the inning with a double.
- The Penmen took the lead for good in the top of the third inning with back-to-back home runs by Leone (two-run shot) and Colon for a 3-0 lead.
- Risedorf and Burgos each hit two-run homers in the top of the fifth to make it 7-1.
- Marshall's home run came leading off the eighth.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- STAC outhit the Penmen 8-7, but seven Spartan hits were singles. Five of SNHU's seven hits were home runs.
- Senior Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.) had the other two hits for the Penmen- singles in the second and fifth innings.
- Lendrum worked two innings, allowing two hits and a run. He recorded two strikeouts.
- Baez worked until two outs in the ninth when STAC threatened with two runners, and senior Noah Wachter (Concord, N.H.) struck out Ryan Appell to end the game.
- Both teams played errorless ball on the smaller Ripken Complex Crosley Field.
NOTES
- The Penmen lead the all-time series with STAC 18-8. SNHU has won 11 of the last 12 meetings including all four in Myrtle Beach since 2019.
- SNHU is ranked 10th in the nation in the NCBWA poll released on February 19.
- Baseball finished the Myrtle Beach trip with a 4-1 mark, outscoring the opponent 37-9.
- SNHU did not allow a run in 37 of 43 innings - and the team did not make an error in the five games.
- Sunday's five home runs were the most in a game since May 6, 2023 at Molloy.
- With 23 career home runs, Jorge Burgos now ranks second on the SNHU career list behind Dakota Mulcay (37).
- Colon led the Penmen with seven hits in Myrtle Beach.
- Marshall had a strong start to his career at 6-for-17 (.353) with three doubles, a homer, four RBI, a walk, and three hit-by-pitches.
- The Penmen were 11-of-14 stealing bases, led by McNamara with three.
- The Penmen were hit-by-pitch 16 times in the five games.
