SNHU Ice Hockey Falls 4-2 to Keene State in Non-Conference Action Tuesday

Sophomore Coleman Nee (Arlington, Mass.) and sophomore Bryan McLachlan (San Pedro, Calif.) scored third period goals, but SNHU Hockey fell 4-2 at Keene State in non-conference action on Tuesday night in Keene.

 KEY MOMENTS
  • Keene State opened the scoring at 7:29 of the first period on a goal by Sean Gray.  A nice cross-ice pass found Gray for the one-timer.
  • The Owls extended the lead to 2-0 at 15:46 of the first as Thor Hansen smacked home a rebound in front of the Penmen net.
  • The lead grew to 4-0 as Keene State scored twice in the second period.  Chase Carney scored off the rebound of a shot by Peter Unger, and then Unger scored off a pass from behind the net by Carney.
  • SNHU scored at 50 seconds of the third period.  Nee scored on a low-angle slap shot on the right side after a feed from Lynch.
  • The Penmen made it 4-2, scoring in a 5-on-3 man advantage at 15:46.  McLaughlin sent a pass out of the Penmen zone to Devlin, who returned the pass for the one-timer.
  • SNHU had another power-play chance in the closing minutes.  Keene State goalie Ethan Swanson made a save on a blast by junior Ryan Pomposelli (Needham, Mass.) with 1:06 to go which was the final attempt for the Penmen.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Keene State has 43 shots on goal while the SNHU had 39.
  • No penalties were called on the Penmen while SNHU converted one of its four man-up situations.
  • The Penmen won 44 face-offs to 37 for Keene State.
  • SNHU sophomore goalie Sean Guerin (Chicago, Ill.) made 39 saves.
  • The Owls turned to Swanson, who made 37 saves in the win.
NOTES
  • Keene State also defeated the Penmen 3-2 in overtime on November 12 at The Ice Den.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series 4-2 - Keene State's program restarted this season after nearly 40 years.
  • Nee scored his second goal of the season, and first since January 10 at Saint Anselm.
  • Lynch added his 15th assist and leads the Penmen in scoring with 20 points - Lynch won 18 of 24 face-offs.
  • McLachlan has scored three goals this season, all coming in the last seven games since January 17.
