Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season with 6-1 Loss to Babson

Junior Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) won his No. 4 singles match, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team opened its spring slate with a 6-1 loss to Babson College on Saturday evening at the YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • No. 4 singles: Roeder def. Sebastian Mendoza, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1
  • No. 1 doubles: Senior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick)/sophomore Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) def. Ole Lepsoe/Mendoza, 6-2
NOTES
  • Williams suffered a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 loss to Edward Wang at No. 3 singles.
  • Southern New Hampshire, which was playing for the first time since Oct. 17, had its three-match winning streak halted.
  • Babson, ranked No. 25 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III rankings, has won all five of its matches this season.
  • The two teams have split four all-time meetings, while Babson improves to 2-1 on the road against the Penmen.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen are back in action Saturday, Feb. 15 when they travel to take on Boston College.
  • The next home match for SNHU is slated for Saturday, March 29 (1 p.m.) when it plays host to Assumption University at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
