GAME 1: SNHU 9, Western Oregon 0
- The first-ever meeting between the schools was the season opener for the Penmen.
- The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when SNHU scored four times. A bases-loaded single by Abbott drove in the first two runs and Bruggeman added a two-run double to center field.
- Jenkins made it 7-0 in the sixth with a fly to right that dropped in for a hit and she came all the way around to score when the ball hopped by the fielder and went to the wall.
- The Penmen loaded the bases again in the seventh and scored two more runs on a single to right for sophomore Kaysie DeMoura (Taunton, Mass.).
- Freitas (1-0) went the distance in the circle.
- SNHU outhit the Wolves 10-3.
GAME 2: SNHU 5, West Virginia Wesleyan 3
- The Penmen received another strong start with Colbert working the first six innings for the win and Freitas worked around a walk in the seventh for her first save.
- Resetar led off the bottom of the first with a double, and she scored on an error by the Bobcats.
- A three-run third inning made it 4-0. Sophomore Mikaya Alto (Chelmsford, Mass.) walked and scored on a Bruggeman double. Junior Abby Lineman (Doylestown, Pa.) walked and stole second. A two-run single by sophomore Charlotte Donovan (Biddeford, Maine) delivered two runs.
- The Bobcats cut the lead to 4-3 with a two-run double by Andie Dizon in the fifth and an RBI single by Linzee Hague in the sixth.
- SNHU picked up an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Resetar doubled, advanced on an infield single by Alto, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bruggeman.
- The Penmen improve to 3-2 all-time against the Bobcats. SNHU had dropped a 1-0 decision to West Virginia Wesleyan last year at The Spring Games.
WHAT'S NEXT
- SNHU will continue at The Spring Games with two games on Monday. They will play St. Cloud State at 9 a.m. and Grand Valley State at 11:15 a.m.
