 KEY MOMENTS
  • Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 12-4 lead over the opening 4:52 behind six points from Greene. Back-to-back 3-pointers from senior Noah Harris (Manalapan, N.J.) and Henderson made up a 6-0 run that gave SNHU its largest lead of the contest at 30-17 with 5:13 left in the first half. Saint Anselm responded with a 9-2 run that trimmed its deficit to 32-26 with under a minute on the clock. The Penmen would bring a 34-26 advantage to the locker room.
  • SNHU scored the first five points of the second half to match its largest lead at 39-26 less than a minute in. A little over two minutes later, Saint Anselm embarked on a 12-4 rush that slashed its deficit to 45-40 with 14:11 to play. The Hawks were still within five with under four minutes remaining when senior Jhamyl Fricas (Lawrence, Mass.) splashed a massive 3-pointer to put the Penmen up, 63-55, with 3:41 on the clock. The Hawks would climb as close as 74-70 with 22 ticks left, but a pair of Henderson free throws all but sealed it, before Fricas offered an exclamation point with a dunk in the closing seconds.

  • Senior Jordan Brathwaite (Silver Spring, Md.) posted seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3-FG), six rebounds and a pair of blocks.
  • Senior Brenden Choate (Nashua, N.H.) tallied seven points (3-6 FG, 1-2 FT), three rebounds and three assists.

  • Freshman Dante Green (Dix Hills, N.Y.) recorded four points (1-3 FG, 2-2 FT) and three rebounds.
  • Harris added three points (1-6 FG, 1-4 3-FG), three rebounds and three assists.
  • Southern New Hampshire outshot Saint Anselm, 43.8 percent (28-64) to 40 percent (26-65), including 40 percent (6-15) to 23.8 percent (5-21) from distance. SNHU also shot it better from the stripe, 76.2 percent (16-21) to 65 percent (13-20).
  • The Penmen won the glass (44-39), scored more points on the fast break (23-13), received more scoring from their bench (14-13) and submitted a more impressive assist-to-turnover ratio (15/9-9/10), while the Hawks captured the paint (38-34), and scored more points off turnovers (11-8) and second chance points (9-3).
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has won 10 of its last 12, including seven of eight and six straight.
  • SNHU improves to 27-16 (.628) in its 20th appearance in the NE10 Championship. After winning their third NE10 title last season, the Penmen have captured five straight NE10 postseason contests. SNHU is now 2-1 against Saint Anselm in the NE10 championship, winning in the semifinals on the road in 2016, before falling in the title game at home in 2017.
  • The Penmen will play host to third-seeded Bentley University in the semifinals on Wednesday, March 5. SNHU split the regular-season series with the Falcons and is 3-2 against Bentley in the NE10 postseason, including 1-1 in the semifinal round. This will mark the first meeting in the NE10 Championship since the Penmen captured their second title with a road win over the Falcons in 2016.
  • Saint Anselm leads the all-time series with SNHU, 41-40, having won 10 of the last 16 meetings, despite the Penmen now taking five of the last seven, including two-straight. The two teams split the regular-season series, with the Hawks scoring an 83-81 win at SNHU on Jan. 14 and the Penmen returning the favor at Saint Anselm on Feb. 19 (86-76). The Hawks had won six of eight at SNHU, dating back to the 2017 NE10 Championship title game, but the Penmen have now been victorious in three of the last five.
  • Greene's double-double is his 18th of the season, as well as his 10th in the last 15 games and sixth in the last eight.
  • Since leading scorer Ray Daniels (Las Vegas, Nev.) went down with an injury Jan. 14, the Penmen have kept winning by having different players step up each game. Over the 12 contests since then, SNHU has not had the same leading scorer in back-to-back games. Six different members of the team have led the squad in scoring during that stretch, including a different player in each of the last four contests.
  • SNHU earns two more points in the Queen City Cup standings for the NE10 postseason win and leads the battle for Manchester supremacy, 18-12.
