Baseball scored nine runs on nine hits over the final three at bats to put away Saint Anselm College 10-2 in a non-conference game at Penmen Field Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning putting together a pair of doubles.
- SNHU tied the game without a hit in the second. Marshall was hit by pitch and junior Jake Risedorf (Barkhamsted, Conn.) walked. The runners moved up on a fly out by sophomore Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.). Sophomore Evan Kaplo (Bedford, N.H.) hit a sacrifice fly.
- An RBI single by Aidan Dow put the Hawks up 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning.
- The Penmen finally picked up a hit when Colon singled with two outs in the fifth inning against first-time Saint Anselm starter Caden Smith.
- SNHU had two big innings late---they scored five in the bottom of the sixth, an inning which started with a Wachter homer.
- Leone delivered a two-run double and Burgos added a two-run single as SNHU led 6-2.
- Four more runs came across in the bottom of the eighth inning on an Albert double, a single by Colon, a Wachter single, and a Risedorf sacrifice fly.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Trumpour becomes the first pitcher on the staff to three wins - he also has made a team-high five starts.
- Freshman Angel Baez (Leominster, Mass.) and sophomore Devin Divita (New Hartford, Conn.) each worked an inning of scoreless relief.
- SNHU finished the game with 10 hits while the Hawks had six.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire is receiving votes this week in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 and ranks 21st in the D2 Baseball Top 25 Rankings.
- The Penmen lead the all-time series with Saint Anselm 70-34 including wins in the last eight meetings.
- This was the first of five meetings between the rivals - they will meet again next Wednesday (March 26) at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Anselm.
- Wachter's four home runs this season are tops on the team as are his seven doubles. He is also tied with Marshall with a team-leading 19 RBIs.
- This was the earliest home opener at Penmen Field since a game with Stonehill on March 17, 2010.
