Women's Lacrosse Falls In Tight Contest With #18 Bentley, 12-9

Sophomore Camdyn Swain Scores Three Times For Penmen

Sophomore Camdyn Swain (No. Falmouth, Mass.) led Southern New Hampshire Women's Lacrosse with three goals, but the Penmen lost a close contest with #18 Bentley University 12-9 on Wednesday afternoon at Ouellette Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The Penmen played one of the most complete quarters of the season, scoring five of the game's first six goals and leading 6-2 after one quarter.
  • Sophomore Natalie Bosselman (Falmouth, Mass.) put the the Penmen up 1-0 at 12:20 off a nice pass from Hadden.
  • Pietz followed that up with a goal off a free position play.
  • A goal by Swain (from McLaughlin) and another by Pietz put SNHU ahead 4-1 with 9:08 to play in the first quarter.
  • Swain added her second of the quarter with 2.8 seconds remaining for SNHU's sixth goal.
  • The Falcons scored five times in the second quarter to take the lead 7-6 at halftime.
  • Senior Teagan McInnis (Bedford, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season with a sharp backhand to tie the game at 7-7.
  • Bentley would close the quarter with a 4-1 run with McLaughlin scoring the SNHU goal.
  • Swain's third of the game brought the Penmen to within 11-9 with 7:46 to play, but Bentley held SNHU off late with some solid work in the cage by Ashlee Wargo.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Moulton made her first career start for the Penmen and the 14 saves were the most by SNHU in a game this season.
  • Bentley had a 30-26 shot advantage including 24-18 on goal.
  • The Falcons turned the ball over fewer times (16-10) and were more successful on its clears 19-of-21 vs. 16-of-21 for SNHU.
  • Bentley had a 14-11 edge on ground balls and 13-12 on draw controls.
  • The Falcons also converted two free-position shots.  The Penmen were 0-for-2.
NOTES 
  • The Falcons have an 18-7 lead in the all-time series with SNHU.  Bentley has won three straight and 13 of 14.
  • Bentley was the second consecutive team ranked in the IWLCA (Coaches) weekly poll to play the Penmen at Ouellette Stadium.
  • Hadden did not score a goal for the Penmen, snapping a 16-game streak. 
  • McLaughlin has scored in every game this season and is second on the team (19 goals) to Hadden (24 goals).
WHAT'S NEXT 
  • The Penmen will head to Rindge, N.H. for an NE10 game with Franklin Pierce University on Saturday (March 29) at 1:00 p.m.
  • The next home game for SNHU will be on Saturday, April 5 (11:00 a.m.) against Pace University.
