Freshman
Jackson Marshall (Hooksett, N.H.) had a big day at the plate with a homer, two doubles, and six hits overall as Southern New Hampshire University baseball finished off a sweep of Assumption with wins by scores of 3-2 and 12-9 in 11 innings on Sunday in Worcester.

GAME ONE - SNHU 3, ASSUMPTION 2
- The Penmen pushed across its three runs in the top of the fifth inning.
- Colon doubled to right center and Burgos was hit by a pitch. Wachter doubled as Colon scored.
- Marshall followed with another double as Burgos and Wachter came across.
- Lendrum kept the Greyhounds off the board until the bottom of the eighth inning when they scored twice.
- Varney, who came on to close out the eighth inning, worked around a two-out single in the ninth to preserve the win.
GAME TWO - SNHU 12, ASSUMPTION 9 (11 innings)
- The Penmen scored four times in the top of the first inning thanks to RBI doubles by Wachter, Marshall, and Leone.
- Assumption would tie the game with four runs in the first, and take a 5-4 lead in the second inning on an RBI double by Jack Barry.
- Marshall homered to lead off the top of the third to tie the game, and an RBI single by junior Kyle Lavigne (Bedford, N.H.) put the Penmen in front 6-5.
- The Greyhounds would tie the game with a sacrifice fly in the fourth, and move ahead with a double in the bottom of the fifth.
- In the top of the 6th, graduate student Luca Giallongo (Mt. Shasta, Calif.) stole home with two outs to tie the game at 7-7.
- Divita, who came on in relief in the 6th, kept the Greyhounds off the board. In the bottom of the seventh, he bare-handed a grounder and flipped to home to prevent a run - a terrific play.
- The Penmen finally broke through in the top of the 11th for five runs. Giallongo, who had walked, scored on a wild pitch. Junior Jake Risedorf (Barkhamsted, Conn.) walked with the bases loaded, sophomore Ruben Fernandez (Providence, R.I.) knocked in two runs with a single and he later scored.
- Assumption did score twice in the bottom of the inning.
- Divita earned the win in relief with a career-high 6.1 innings. His eight strikeouts were also a career-best.
NOTES
- The Penmen dropped out of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 rankings last week and are receiving votes in the latest poll.
- SNHU completed a Northeast-10 sweep of the Greyhounds with win in the first game.
- The second game, a non-conference contest, was scheduled to be a seven-inning game.
- The Penmen have won a season-high six consecutive games, the longest streak since the team won it's first six games in last season's NCAA tournament.
- Marshall went 6-for-10 in the doubleheader to take over the team lead with a .363 average. His five homers and 29 RBIs also lead the team.
- Senior Jancarlos Colon (Santa Isabel, P.R.) has hits in 17 straight games and his batting average if .359 - second on the team only to Marshall.
- Baseball leads the all-time series with the Greyhounds 56-26-2, and the Penmen have won six of the last seven.
