Graduate Student Katelyn Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) registered a career-best 12 points, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team put a scare into ninth-ranked Adelphi University on Sunday, before falling, 17-16, at Ouellette Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Adelphi led, 2-1, a little more than four minutes in when Hadden set up two straight McLaughlin goals. sophomore Mazie Burt (Waterford, Vt.) followed with the third straight for Southern New Hampshire to give them a 4-2 advantage with 8:56 left in the opening quarter. The Panthers scored two straight to tie it, but the Penmen buried three of the next four, including the first goal of the second quarter, to open a 7-5 lead less than two minutes in.
- Adelphi tallied four straight to jump in front, 9-7, with 9:04 left before the break, but SNHU scored three-in-a-row to re-gain the lead, 10-9, with 3:42 on the clock. Hadden and freshman Sabrina Redding (Forked River, N.J.) each notched a goal and an assist during the stretch. The Panthers capped the first-half scoring with 2:39 to go, as the game went to the half tied, 10-10.
- Hadden scored the first two goals of the second half and then assisted on the next two for the Penmen, as they exited the third quarter with a 14-12 edge.
- Adelphi scored four of the first five in the fourth quarter to take a 16-15 lead with 3:12 remaining. Hadden's free-position goal tied the contest with 2:22 left, but Adelphi would go on top for good, 17-16, with 1:15 to go. The Panthers would turn it over in the final seconds, with senior Teagan McInnis (Bedford, N.H.) scooping the ball up and narrowly getting off a final bid, but it was saved just before the buzzer sounded.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Adelphi goalkeeper Madison Marchetta made six saves on 20 shots over the opening 46:19, while Jillian McFadden turned away two of four bids in the final 13:41.
- Burt (two ground balls) and McInnis (three draw controls) each scored two goals.
- Redding tallied a goal and an assist, in addition to causing a turnover.
- Graduate standout Skylar Pietz (Dudley, Mass.) registered a goal, two ground balls, two draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.
- Adelphi outshot SNHU, 48-28, including 23-12 in the second half.
- The Panthers owned advantages in ground balls (24-17) and draw controls (23-13).
- SNHU went 23-for-25 on its clears, while Adelphi was 15-for-16.

NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has dropped four straight, including two of them to nationally-ranked opponents.
- Adelphi leads the all-time series with SNHU, 17-0, including 9-0 at SNHU. The one-goal margin of victory is the smallest for the Panthers in the series. The previous closest meeting the two teams had was April 27 of last season in Garden City (21-15).
- Hadden now has 151 goals, 92 assists and 243 points for her career, including 97 goals, 64 assists and 161 points during her two years in a Penmen uniform.
