HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern New Hampshire posted pair of runs in the bottom of the first. A single from Risedorf and a walk to sophomore Nater Wachter (Concord, N.H.) put a pair on, before Marshall plated the game's first run with a base knock up the middle. Wachter later scored on a fielder's choice groundout from graduate student Jorge Burgos (Santo Domingo, D.R.) to make it 2-0.
- SNHU broke it open with a nine-run fourth. Valera started it with a two-run homer to dead center, before RBI singles from Risedorf, Marshall and Pisano widened the gap to 7-0. Following four straight hits, three consecutive walks, including back-to-back free passes with the bases loaded to Lavigne and Valera, made it 9-0. A two-run double to the gap in left-center by sophomore Ruben Fernandez (Providence, R.I.) ran the score to 11-0 before a 30-minute lightning delay.
- After the game resumed, New Haven struck four times in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run, pinch-hit home run to right by Tyler Wells.
- Following the sixth, heavy rains closed in and the field was tarped, before the game was eventually called.
