GREENWOOD, Ind. – Southern New Hampshire University had 11 of its student-athletes make the Academic All-District At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, last week.
Four of the five women's at-large honorees came from field hockey, including senior
Annemartine Christis ('S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands), juniors
Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) and
Anne Wiersma (Veldhoven, Netherlands), and sophomore
Minke van de Poll (Oosterbeek, Netherlands.
The two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 2, Oct. 16) and four-time NE10 Player of the Week (Sept. 23, Sept. 30, Oct. 7, Oct. 14) started all 20 contests and amassed 74 points on 30 goals and 14 assists to lead the nation in goals, points, goals per game (1.50) and points per game (3.70), and rank second in assists per contests (0.70). Christis received an array of postseason honors, including NFHCA All-America First Team, NFHCA East Regional Player of the Year, NE10 Player of the Year and NE10 All-Conference First Team. Christis, who was pursuing her Master's degree in business administration and turned in a 3.89 grade-point average (GPA), also collected NE10 Sport Excellence and NE10 Academic All-Conference Team accolades.
Peeters, who is a sociology major with a 3.9 GPA, started all 20 contests, playing all 1239:33 in net for the Penmen. The two time NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 25, Oct. 16) and three-time NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week (Sept. 23, Oct. 14, Oct. 28) went 16-4 with 10 shutouts, a 0.92 goals-against average (GAA) and .843 save percentage, as she stopped 102 of the 121 shots she faced. Peeters led the nation in save percentage, while ranking third and pacing the NE10 in GAA. She placed second in the league in shutouts. Peeters took home NFHCA All-America First Team, NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year, NE10 All-Conference First Team, NFHCA National Scholar Athlete, NFHCA Scholar of Distinction, NFHCA National Academic Squad and NE10 Academic All-Conference honors.
Wiersma, a psychology major with a minor in justice studies with a concentration in forensic psychology and the owner of a 3.61 GPA, also started all 20 matches for the Penmen. She notched five goals and 14 assists for 24 points. Wiersma ranked second in the nation in assists and assists per game (0.70), while the 14 assists tied the single-season SNHU mark. Wiersma was an NFHCA All-America First Team and NE10 All-Conference First Team honoree, in addition to earning both NFHCA National Academic Squad and NE10 Academic All-Conference recognition.
In 20 starts, van de Poll totaled 20 points on eight goals and four assists, ranking 16th in the NE10 in goals and 17th in points. The marketing major with a 3.75 GPA was an NE10 All-Conference Second Team selection and NFHCA National Academic Squad honoree.
Graduate student
Skylar Pietz (Dudley, Mass.) from women's lacrosse also received the honor. She started all 17 games and amassed 24 goals, four assists, 28 points, 32 grounds balls, 24 caused turnovers and 36 draw controls, en route to receiving NE10 All-Conference Third Team honors. She is a public health major with a perfect 4.0 GPA
SNHU had six earn the recognition on the men's side, including sophomore
Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.), and juniors
Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ontario) and
Kurt Watson (London, Ontario) from men's ice hockey.
Berke adds to his list of 2024-25 accolades that includes NE10 Goaltender of the Year, NE10 All-Conference First Team, Joe Concannon Award semifinalist, NE10 Sport Excellence Award and NE10 Academic All-Conference. The three-time NE10 Goaltender of the Week (Nov. 24, Jan. 20, Feb. 3) started 21 of the 23 games he played in, finishing 12-7-2 with five shutouts. Berke stopped 640 of 687 shots over 1265:34 for a .932 save percentage and 2.23 GAA. He led the NE10 in shutouts, while ranking second in GAA and minutes, and third in save percentage and total saves. Berke is an accounting and finance major with a 3.95 grade point-average (GPA).
Lynch, a business administration major with a 3.76 GPA, played in 29 games, totaling 27 points on seven goals and 20 assists. The Feb. 10 NE10 Player of the Week skated to a plus-9 plus/minus rating and won 388 of 651 (.596) face-offs. He led the NE10 in face-off win percentage, while ranking second in assists and face-off wins, fourth in points and sixth in plus/minus. Lynch was the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and an NE10 All-Conference First Team pick.
Watson, a sport management major with a 3.89 GPA, played in all 29 games for the Penmen, totaling 16 points on a team-leading nine goals and seven assists. Watson ranked seventh in the NE10 with three power-play goals. He earned a spot on the NE10 Academic All-Conference Team.
Graduate student
Aidan Boyle (Westfield, Mass.) from men's lacrosse made the team. Boyle, who was pursuing his MBA with a concentration in music business and owned a 3.62 GPA, started all 14 contests, and tallied 23 ground balls and a team-best 16 caused turnovers. Boyle was a New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-New England Second Team and NE10 All-Conference Third Team selection.
Senior
Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) and junior
Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) from men's golf also collected the award.
Pepin, who was selected to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) PING NCAA Division II East All-Region Team and NE10 All-Conference First Team, played in nine events and averaged a 73.5 over his 24 rounds, coming in just over the average par of 71. Pepin broke 70 five times during the season, including in the biggest moments, as he fired a 67 at the NE10 Championship on Oct. 7 and again at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship on May 9. Pepin finished in the top 10 five times and the top five on three occasions, including at the NE10 Championships when he tied for first with a 4-over 214, but lost on the third playoff hole. Pepin was ninth at the NCAA Regional with a 7-over 223 and narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA National Championship by one spot. He is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.64 GPA.
Rollins played 22 rounds over nine events, average a 75.0. Rollins had three top-10 finishes, including a seventh-place showing at the NE10 Championships, as the Penmen captured their fifth league title. His best round came April 22 at Derryfield Country Club when he fired a 2-under 68 at the Penmen Season Finale. The accounting and finance major has a 3.99 GPA.
Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Christis, Peeters, Wiersma, van de Poll, Pietz, Berke and Lynch were selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees for the women will be announced July 8, 2025, while the men will be unveiled July 9.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes At-Large honorees in five divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and the College Division.
