Limbu Tallies Twice But Women's Soccer Falls 3-2 Sunday at #20 Wilmington

SNHU builds 2-0 lead before Wilmington rallies late

Junior Sneha Limbu (Tung Chung, Hong Kong) scored twice in the opening half to give the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team a 2-0 advantage, but #20 Wilmington University responded with three unanswered goals to hand the Penmen a 3-2 defeat Sunday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

KEY MOMENT
Limbu's second tally of the day, off a perfect setup from sophomore Lauren Fox (Yonkers, N.Y.) in the 34th minute, pushed the Penmen lead to 2-0.

NOTES
  • Limbu scored the opening goal, collecting a rebound off a shot from junior Avary Hall (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) to put the Penmen up 1-0 at 3:29.
  • Less than two minutes after Limbu's second goal, Wilmington's Eboni Bradshaw struck to trim the deficit to 2-1. The Wildcats carried that momentum into the second half, pulling even in the 50th minute before Anneli Donath delivered the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute.
  • Limbu, who scored twice against #11 Jefferson on Friday, potted all four Penmen goals on the trip to Delaware.
  • Junior Isabel Hughes (Phoenix, Ariz.) made 10 saves in her first career start in net for the Penmen.
  • Wilmington owned a 22-7 advantage in total shots, including 13-5 in shots on target.
  • The Wildcats also led 7-2 in corner kicks.
  • SNHU falls to 2-1 all-time against Wilmington.  The Penmen won 3-1 last season in SNHU's home opener at Ouellette Stadium.
  • The Penmen are now 64-28-24 (.655) over their last 116 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 campaign.
