Junior
Minke van de Poll (Oosterbeek, Netherlands) scored a pair of goals, including the equalizer with 17 seconds left to force overtime, as the eighth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team pulled out a 3-2 overtime victory against American International College on a goal by junior
Zoe Demers (Manchester, N.H.) just 1:13 into the extra session Wednesday night at Larkin Field.
KEY MOMENT
- After SNHU was awarded a penalty corner in the final 30 seconds, sophomore Julia Giampietro (Sandwich, Mass.) inserted the ball to the top of the arc for van de Poll, who sent a rocket into the back of the net to tie the contest, 2-2, at the 59:43 mark.
- van de Poll then set up the game winner just 1:13 into overtime, sending a ball ahead for Demers, who went in 1-on-1 with the AIC goalkeeper, made a move to her right and fell as the 'keeper dove to knock the ball away, but was able to control her stick enough to knock the ball into the back of the net as she sprawled to the turf.
