Junior Nadya Lyekontseva (Kyiv, Ukraine) did not drop a game in singles play, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 victory against Division I foe Merrimack College on Tuesday night at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
KEY MOMENT
- SNHU was in front, 2-0, when Lyekontseva breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Selasie Senanu at No. 4 singles to push Merrimack to the brink.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire improves to 2-0 for the sixth time in the last seven years.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Merrimack, 14-9, and wins for the sixth time in the last seven meetings. This was the first meeting between the former NE10 rivals since Sept. 8, 2018 when the Warriors edged the Penmen, 4-3, at home. SNHU has now won four-in-a-row at home against Merrimack, which last was victorious against the Penmen on their home court April 17, 2014 (7-2).
