Noon Strike Not Enough For Women's Soccer in 3-1 Loss to Assumption

SNHU levels the match early in the second half before Greyhounds answer with two late goals

The Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Assumption University on Saturday afternoon in Northeast 10 Conference play in Worcester.  Senior Imogen Noon (Gold Coast, Australia) netted her third goal of the season midway through the second half to pull the Penmen even, but the Greyhounds responded with two goals in the final seven minutes to secure the win.


KEY MOMENT
Noon's strike in the 52nd minute leveled the score at 1-1, giving SNHU momentum early in the second half. Assumption, however, reclaimed the lead in the 84th minute on Elizabeth Schoeneber's second goal of the day and sealed the outcome with an insurance tally from Ava Normandin in the 89th

NOTES
  • Noon's goal leaves her one shy of the team lead.  Junior Sneha Limbu (Tung Chung, Hong Kong) has four.
  • Schoeneber scored twice for Assumption, while Normandin added a goal and two assists.
  • Senior Claudia Keith (Danvers, Mass.) made one save in goal for the Penmen.
  • Assumption had a 9-7 shot advantage, including 5-3 on goal.  The Penmen had a 7-2 edge on corner kicks.
  • The Penmen lead the all-time series with the Greyhounds 19-12-6.  SNHU had been 4-0-1 in the last five meetings, and had not lost in Worcester since 2016.
  • Women's soccer is 65-29-25 (.651) over their last 119 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 campaign.
