The No. 8 Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team opened its 2025 season Thursday on the road, falling 9–2 at top-ranked Kutztown University in Andre Reed Stadium.

KEY MOMENT
  • Southern New Hampshire found its footing in the second half. In the 44th minute, sophomore Natalie Paradzick (Hooksett, N.H.) converted a penalty stroke for her fourth career goal, putting the Penmen on the board.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire is ranked 8th in the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) pre-season poll.
  • Southern New Hampshire played its second consecutive game at Kutztown.  The Penmen fell to the Golden Bears 2-1 in double-overtime in a hard-fought NCAA quarterfinal contest last November.  Kutztown leads the all-time series 4-0.
  • The game was halted with 4:52 remaining in the fourth quarter following a 30-minute lightning delay.
  • Junior Zoe Demers (Manchester, N.H.) netted her first goal of the season at 55:08, capping the Penmen's scoring effort.
  • The Golden Bears wasted little time setting the tone, scoring twice in the opening 13 minutes and building a 7–0 lead by halftime. Kutztown capitalized on penalty corners and quick ball movement, outshooting the Penmen 14–0 in the first half.
  • SNHU goalkeepers, freshman Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Margaux de Bievre (Amsterdam, Netherlands) combined for nine saves.
UP NEXT
  • The Penmen head to Saint Anselm College for a non-conference contest on Sunday (Sept. 7) at 1:00 p.m.  The defending national champion Hawks are ranked #2 in the NFHCA pre-season poll behind Kutztown.
