SNHU Ice Hockey dropped a 6-1 decision to Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast 10 action at Sullivan Arena, as the teams split the two-game set.
KEY MOMENT
Leading 1-0 late in the first, Saint Anselm erupted for three goals over a 10:21 span bridging the second and third periods to break the game open. The Hawks scored at 14:15 and 16:34 of the second, then added another at 4:36 of the third to extend the margin to 4-0.
NOTES
- Saint Anselm opened the scoring late in the first period on a goal by John Myers and added a pair of goals in the second by Justin Tremblay, including a power-play tally, to take a 3-0 lead into the third.
- SNHU got on the board at 9:43 of the third period when freshman Zach Vickerman (Queensville, Ontario) scored on the power play, finishing a feed from sophomore Dillon Phillips (Raleigh, N.C.) and freshman Aidan Rufa (Massena, N.Y.).
- Vickerman's goal was his fourth of the season and made it 4-1.
- The Hawks answered less than six minutes later and added a late power-play goal to account for the final margin.
- Junior goaltender Sean Guerin (Chicago, Ill.) made 24 saves in 44:36 of action, while freshman Trent Boryszczuk (Novi, Mich.) stopped three shots in relief.
- Saint Anselm held a 33-26 advantage in shots on goal.
- SNHU finished 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Hawks went 2-for-6.
- The Hawks win the season series 2-1-1 to claim two Queen City Cup points. The season series is tied at 9-9.
