Six different players scored for SNHU on Sunday as the Penmen won the consolation game of the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational at Warrior Ice Arena. The Penmen defeated SUNY Potsdam 6-2 at Warrior Ice Arena.
KEY MOMENT
Senior Ryan Pomposelli (Needham, Mass.) opened the scoring at 6:53 of the first period and SNHU scored the first five goals of the game en route to the win.
NOTES
- Senior Coleman Nee (Arlington, Mass.) made it 2-0 at 9:09 of the first period.
- Goals by sophomore Darby McCarthy (Whitefish, Mt.), senior Kurt Watson (London, Ont.), and freshman Bryan Kim (Calgary, Alb.) made it 5-0. SUNY Potsdam got on the board late in the second period.
- It was a strong weekend for Watson, who had a pair of goals in Saturday's 6-4 loss loss to Connecticut College.
- McCarthy's goal, assisted by Watson and senior Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ont.), was the first of his career.
- Lynch, who added an empty netter in the final minutes, also assisted on Pomposelli's goal.
- Kim's career second goal came on the power-play, and SNHU finished 1-for-3 with a man advantage.
- Freshman Zach Vickerman (Queensville, Ont.) had a pair of assists.
- Junior Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.) earned the win in net, making 30 saves.
- This was the second time in the past three seasons SNHU has competed in the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational and first win in the event.
- SNHU won for the first time in four meetings with the Bears. SUNY Potsdam leads the all-time series 2-1-1. The teams had tied in Hooksett two years ago.
