Senior Isabel Hughes (Phoenix, Ariz.) made five saves, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team was edged by Southern Connecticut State University, 1-0, in Northeast 10 Conference action Saturday afternoon at Jess Dow Field.
KEY MOMENT
- Southern Connecticut scored the match's only goal just 6:27 in when Isabella LaPerle found the back of the net. Hughes and the Penmen defense kept the Owls off the board for the remainder of the contest, but SNHU could not find the equalizer.
NOTES
- Hughes stopped five of the six shots she faced on goal, including three saves in the second half.
- SNHU generated eight of its 11 shots after halftime and put five of those eight attempts on goal.
- Junior Emma Noheimer (Mansfield, Conn.) led the Penmen with three shots, including two on goal.
- Sophomore Jillian Collins (Wilmington, Mass.), junior Lauren Fox (Yonkers, N.Y.) and sophomore Briseis Terra (Lancaster, Mass.) each put a second-half shot on goal, with Terra's attempt coming in the 90th minute.
- Southern Connecticut goalkeeper Makenzi Pastreck made seven saves to record the shutout.
