NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University field hockey sophomore Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) has been named the Northeast 10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday.
Miranda Waigand recorded a pair of shutouts last week as the Penmen picked up key Northeast 10 victories over Saint Michael's College (3-0) and Southern Connecticut State University (1-0). She made five saves against the Purple Knights and three more against the Owls, finishing the week with eight saves while not allowing a goal.
Miranda Waigand leads the Northeast 10 with six shutouts this season. She previously earned NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors following the opening week of the season, when she made 13 saves in two games, including a 2-1 shootout victory over nationally ranked Bentley University.
A two-time NE10 Rookie of the Week selection and an All-Conference Rookie Team honoree last season, Miranda Waigand has continued to anchor the Penmen defense in her sophomore campaign.
SNHU will wrap up the regular season later this week with a home match against Bentley University at Larkin Field. The contest will have Northeast 10 playoff implications as the Penmen look to secure a berth in the conference tournament.
