COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Southern New Hampshire University sophomore goalkeeper Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) has been named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.
Miranda Waigand becomes the first Penmen to earn the national honor since goalkeeper Emma Peeters in 2024.
Miranda Waigand turned aside all eight shots she faced over 120 minutes last week, recording consecutive shutouts as the Penmen picked up a pair of key Northeast 10 Conference victories.
The sophomore made five saves in Tuesday's 3-0 home win over Saint Michael's College before stopping three shots in Sunday's 1-0 road victory at Southern Connecticut State University.
Miranda Waigand, who also earned her second NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week award on Monday, leads the conference with six shutouts this season.
The Penmen conclude the regular season Thursday (Nov. 5) at 5 p.m. when they host Bentley University at Larkin Field. The contest carries significant Northeast 10 playoff implications as SNHU looks to secure a postseason berth.
