Men's Basketball Loses 87-81 Overtime Heartbreaker at Saint Anselm

Wallace continues scoring binge with career-high 32 points

When and Where: February 10, 2026 – Manchester, N.H. (Stoutenburgh Gymnasium)
Score: Saint Anselm College 87, Southern New Hampshire University 81 (OT)
Records: SNHU 10-13 (4-10 NE10), Saint Anselm 18-6 (11-3 NE10)

Sophomore Jojo Wallace (Milford, Conn.) pumped in a career- and game-high 32 points, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team was stunned by Saint Anselm College, which forced overtime on buzzer-beating 3-pointer and swiped an 87-81 victory Tuesday night at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
KEY MOMENTS
  • SNHU jumped out to an 11-4 lead over the opening three minutes, led by six points from freshman Jamier Rose (Berwick, Maine), who knocked down two of his career-best four 3-pointers. The Penmen would lead by as many as nine at 18-9 with 13:40 left in the first half, but Saint Anselm used a 13-3 run to take a 22-21 lead with 9:27 on the clock. Four lead changes and a pair of ties ensued before the hosts eventually brought a 36-35 lead to the locker room.
  • The Hawks remained in the lead at 46-45 just under 13 minutes left when another Rose triple sparked a 13-5 rush – paced by six from senior Ray Daniels (Las Vegas, Nev.) – that flipped the Penmen back in front at 58-51 with 9:15 remaining. Five straight from the hosts as part of a 9-2 blitz knotted the score at 60-all with 5:13 to go.
  • With SNHU in front by one in the final seven seconds, Wallace buried a pair of free throws to make it 70-67, but Saint Anselm inbounded the ball, pushed it the length and Will Davies drilled a step-back 3 from the right wing to send the game to overtime.
  • The Hawks opened the extra session with a 3-pointer and led wire-to-wire. The Penmen had a chance, down three at 81-78 with under a minute to go, but they would miss a trey and Saint Anselm hit all six free throws down the stretch to wrap it up.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has its two-game winning streak halted.
  • SNHU played in an overtime game for the first time this season. It had captured its previous three overtime contests dating back to 2023-24.
  • This was just the first time the Penmen went to overtime against Saint Anselm since Nov. 26, 2019 – a 104-93 home loss for SNHU against the Hawks.
  • Wallace finished 11-for-25 from the floor, including 2-for-6 from downtown, and a perfect 8-for-8 at the line, while recording five rebounds and a pair of assists.
  • Senior T.J. Morris (Jamaica, N.Y.) tallied 15 points (7-14 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
  • Rose netted a career-high 12 points (4-8 FG, 4-6 3-FG) and added five rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals.
  • Daniels registered nine points (3-8 FG, 3-5 3-FG), two rebounds and two assists.
  • Redshirt-junior Jahshawne Joseph (Malvern, Ont.) posted nine points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3-FG) and five boards.
  • Saint Anselm takes a 43-41 lead in the all-time series, as it wins its second straight meeting, despite SNHU having captured three of the last five and five of the last eight. The Penmen were 92-80 victors at Saint Anselm earlier this season on Dec. 13, while Saint Anselm took a 92-81 home rematch Jan. 13. The Hawks also snap a three-game home losing streak versus the Penmen, walking off their own floor victorious for the first time since Nov. 23, 2021 (74-66).
  • Wallace has scored in double figures in all 23 contests this season and continues to lead the NE10 in scoring (22.9 ppg). Wallace has now netted 20-plus points in 10 straight and is averaging 25.0 ppg during the stretch, which includes five performances of 27 or more.
  • Saint Anselm earns two points in the Queen City Cup standings and now leads, 12-9, in the battle for Manchester supremacy.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen are back in action Saturday, Feb. 14 (3:30 p.m.) when they play host to Adelphi University at the Stan Spirou Field House.
