NOTES
  • Freshman Zak Whitney (Keene, N.H.) made his first career start in game one, striking out the first two batters he faced before Queens rallied to build a 7-6 lead.
  • Pisano fell just short of a cycle in the first game.  He singled in the first inning and collected a double and triple during the nine-run fourth, before flying out to deep center field in his next at-bat.
  • Junior Jack Davis (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) also pitched in the first game, recording a pair of strikeouts over his two innings, allowing one run.
  • Redshirt freshman Jack Quinn (Boca Raton, Fla.) had a memorable first at bat with the Penmen, delivering a pinch-hit, two-run single in the second game.
  • Through the first three games in Myrtle Beach, the Penmen have totaled 36 hits, including 12 extra-base hits, without hitting a home run.
  • The Penmen improve to 11-1 all-time against the Knights.  This marked the fifth consecutive season the teams have met in Myrtle Beach.
UP NEXT
  • The Penmen look to build on the momentum from Friday when they meet the College of Staten Island at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Ripken Experience.
