Bentley Sweeps Doubleheader from #16 Baseball

Falcons have now taken the first three games of weekend set from Penmen

When and Where: March 21, 2026 — Waltham, Mass. (Robert DeFelice Baseball Field)
Game 1 Score: Bentley University 12, Southern New Hampshire University 3 (7 inn.)
Game 2 Score: Bentley University 7, Southern New Hampshire University 6 (7 inn.)
Records: SNHU 12-7 (4-3 NE10), Bentley 14-6 (6-1 NE10)

Senior Jake Pisano (Hamden, Conn.) went 4-for-6 and knocked in three runs, including the game-tying runs in the seventh inning of game two, but Bentley University walked off in the bottom of the frame and took a pair of contests from the 16th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team Saturday at DeFelice Field. The Falcons cruised to a 12-3 victory in game one, before squeaking out a 7-6 win in the nightcap.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Southern New Hampshire trailed 1-0 in the top of the second when a two-run home run by junior Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.) flipped it into the lead.
  • Bentley tied it in the home half and struck three times in the third to take a 5-2 lead.
  • Senior Dakota Britt (Rockwall, Texas) came through with an RBI single in the fourth to make it a two-run game, but the Falcons scored four times in the fourth and plated three more in the sixth to break it open.
  • Pisano (run) and senior JR Bozek (Danville, N.H; walk) were both 2-for-3.
  • Valera finished 1-for-2 with a walk, home run, two RBI and a run scored.
  • Britt was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
  • Senior Jake Risedorf (Barkhamsted, Conn.) relinquished nine runs on six hits over three-and-two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. Risedorf (2-2) started for the first time this season.
  • Redshirt-junior Ben Gilbert (Altamont, N.Y.) gave up one hit, walked a pair, hit a batter and struck out one over two-thirds of an innings.
  • Sophomore Alex Primeau (Sainte Julie, Quebec) also worked two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and fanning one.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Bentley led, 6-3, in the top of the fifth when an RBI single to right by graduate student Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) pulled the Penmen within 6-4.
  • SNHU tied the game in the seventh inning when Pisano delivered a two-run single to center.
  • The Falcons walked off for the second time in as many days in the bottom of the frame, however. With runners on first and second with no outs, Bentley dropped down a sacrifice bunt, but a throwing error allowed the game-winning run to score.
  • Pisano (three RBI, walk) and Britt (two runs, triple, walk) were both 2-for-3.
  • Cisco finished 1-for-2 with an RBI, run and pair of walks.
  • Junior Brody Keneston (Ballston Spa, N.Y.; run, double, walk), graduate student Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.; two runs, walk) and senior Ruben Fernandez (Providence, R.I.; RBI) were all 1-for-3.
  • Senior Jake Lapham (Lansingburgh, N.Y.) gave up five runs on five hits and three walks, while striking out one, over two-and-a-third innings.
  • Graduate student  Noah Wachter (Concord, N.H.) allowed one run on two hits, striking out a pair and walking one, over an inning-and-a-third.
  • Redshirt-junior Zachary Brassill (No. Hampton, N.H.) was tagged with the loss, as he gave up an unearned run on two hits and a walk, fanning one over two-and-a-third innings.
NOTES
  • SNHU, ranked 16th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 and 30th in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division II Baseball Coaches Poll, had won 12 of its last 15, including nine of 11, seven of eight and five straight, but have now dropped three-in-a-row to begin the four-game weekend series with Bentley.
  • Bentley is receiving votes in the NCBWA poll.
  • Bentley leads the all-time series, 48-44, and has won six of the last seven meetings, despite the Penmen being victorious in 14 of the last 21. The Penmen have also won 13 of the last 17 at Bentley.
  • Valera's home run is his first of the season and sixth of his career.
UP NEXT
  • The Penmen and Falcons were scheduled to wrap up the series Sunday (March 22) with a single game beginning at noon. That meeting has been postponed due to expected rain Sunday. No make-up date has been announced.
