Junior Casey Cumiskey (Milltown, N.J.) went 5-for-7 with a pair of home runs and eight RBI, as the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team put up 45 runs in a pair of wins over American International College on Monday to complete the four-game sweep of the series at Penmen Field. SNHU belted seven home runs in a 26-3 victory in game one, before posting a 19-6 win in the second game.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Southern New Hampshire fell behind, 3-0, in the top of the first, but sent 13 to the plate in the home half of the first and put up eight runs, with Cumiskey and senior JR Bozek (Danville, N.H.) hitting back-to-back home runs to cap the scoring. Cumiskey's three-run blast to center was the big blow in the inning.
  • SNHU did not let up in the second inning, sending 10 to the plate, as it struck six more times. A solo shot to lead off the frame by graduate student Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.) set the tone, while a two-run homer from junior Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.), a solo bomb from Cumiskey and a two-run blast by graduate student Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) continued the onslaught.
  • The Penmen scored twice in the third, before Valera's two-run double highlighted a three-run fourth that made it 19-3.
  • A pinch-hit RBI single in the fifth by junior Jacob Albert (Pelham, N.H.) brought the score to an even 20-3.
  • SNHU put up six more runs in the sixth, with Albert's two-run shot to right capping the scoring.
  • Cumiskey (five RBI, three runs, two home runs, double), Valera (four RBI, two runs, home run, two doubles) and McNamara (two RBI, three runs, home run) were all 3-for-4.
  • Bozek finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, three runs scored and a home run.
  • Cisco was 1-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and a home run.
  • Albert went 2-for-2 with three RBI, a run scored and the home run.
  • Senior Jake Risedorf (Barkhamsted, Conn.) went the distance on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings, while striking out a season-high 10 and walking just two, as he improved to 3-2.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
  • AIC struck first again in the first, but SNHU answered to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning on an RBI triple by senior Dakota Britt (Rockwall, Texas), who then came home on an RBI groundout by fellow senior Jake Pisano (Hamden, Conn.).
  • The Yellow Jackets hit back with five in the second to take a 6-2 lead, but the Penmen scored three times in the bottom of the frame to trim their deficit to 6-5. A Bozek sacrifice fly, run-scoring single for Cisco and an RBI double by Britt did the damage.
  • SNHU grabbed the lead for good with a pair in the third, as an RBI double from Valera and a run-scoring single by junior Lou Spadafora (Monroe Township, N.J.) made it 7-6.
  • A five-run fourth inning – highlighted by a two-run single from Valera and a two-run double by Cumiskey – broke it open at 12-6.
  • The Penmen plated six more in the fifth, with Spadafora's two-run single making it 15-6, before Cumiskey delivered an RBI single that saw the ball get by the left fielder and roll all the way to the wall, allowing Spadafora to come all the way around from first and Cumiskey to also cross the plate to make it a commanding 18-6 advantage.
  • Britt put the cherry on top of the doubleheader sweep with a solo bomb to right in the sixth that completed the cycle.
  • Britt went 4-for-5 with a single, double, triple and home run, as he knocked in three runs and scored three times.
  • Cumiskey (three RBI, two runs, double) and Spadafora (three RBI, two runs, walk) were both 2-for-3.
  • Valera (three RBI, three runs, double), McNamara (two RBI, two runs, walk) and Cisco (RBI, two runs) all went 2-for-4.
  • Senior Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.) started and worked the first two innings, relinquishing six runs – three earned – on seven hits.
  • Junior Jack Davis (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) came on and slammed the door on the Yellow Jackets, tossing four shutout frames, allowing just two hits, while walking a pair and striking out five. He earned a win for the second straight day to improve to 4-2 on the season.
  • Sophomore Garrett Hammer (Auburn, N.H.) walked two and struck out two in a hitless final inning.
