Sophomore Piper Knowlton (Chester, N.H.) notched a career-high seven points and sophomore goalkeeper Corrina Moulton (Barre, Vt.) racked up 13 saves to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team to an 18-6 triumph over Molloy University on Saturday afternoon at Ouellette Stadium.
KEY MOMENT
- With the game tied 1-1 in the opening 3:05, Southern New Hampshire scored the final four goals of the first quarter over the last 10:22 to take a 5-1 lead. Knowlton and freshman Abby Bouffard (Biddeford, Maine) each scored a pair of goals in the first frame.
- SNHU did it again in the second quarter, burying the final five goals before halftime to open a commanding, 10-2 advantage. Knowlton had two goals and two assists during the stretch, while sophomore Sabrina Redding (Forked River, N.J.) added a goal and a helper.
- A goal and an assist from senior Brynn Goulet (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and a pair of helpers from redshirt-sophomore Mazie Burt (Waterford, Vt.) powered the Penmen to begin the third, as they scored the first four to make it 14-2 with 7:34 left. They would go to the final frame up 15-3.
- Burt scored twice in the fourth quarter off setups from junior Natalie Bosselman (Falmouth, Mass.) to widen the gap to 18-4 with under seven minutes to play.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has now won two straight to get back to .500.
- Knowlton finished with a career-best five goals and two assists.
- Redding and Goulet each tallied four points on three goals and an assist.
- Burt and Bosselman each recorded two goals and two assists.
- Bouffard (two goals) and freshman Kailyn Cuddahy (Leominster, Mass.; goal, assist) both collected two points.
- Moulton stopped 13 of the 17 shots she faced over the initial 54:33 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Junior Nicole Mirra (Cicero, N.Y.) made one save on three shots over the final 5:27.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Molloy, 5-3. The Penmen have captured four of the last five meetings, including three straight. They are now a perfect 2-0 at home against the Lions.
- The Penmen outshot Molloy, 39-27, including 23-13 in the opening half.
- SNHU also collected 17 of the game's 25 draw controls.
- After averaging nearly 19 turnovers through their first three games, the Penmen gave it away only seven times against the Lions. That is the fewest in a game for SNHU since it committed just six turnovers against the College of Saint Rose on April 24, 2024.
