The Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team dropped a 16-7 decision to Bentley University on Wednesday night at Ouellette Stadium in Northeast 10 Conference action. Sophomore
PJ Cunningham (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Penmen with two goals and one assist.
KEY MOMENTS
- SNHU came out strong, scoring the first four goals of the game, including strikes from sophomore Lasse Volquardsen (Frankfurt, Germany), junior Joey Gallo (Derry, N.H.), junior Sean Dwyer (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and Cunningham to take a 4-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
- Bentley answered with three late goals in the opening frame and then dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Penmen 8-0 to take an 11-4 lead into halftime.
- The Falcons extended their run to nine straight goals early in the third quarter to build a 13-4 advantage before SNHU responded with back-to-back tallies from sophomore Blake Wozniak (Garden Grove, Calif.) and Cunningham late in the period.
- Bentley added three goals in the fourth quarter to maintain control, while freshman Tobey Desroches (Nottingham, N.H.) scored for the Penmen in the final minutes.
NOTES
- Cunningham led SNHU with three points on two goals and one assist, while Gallo, Dwyer, Volquardsen, Wozniak and Desroches each added a goal.
- Junior Kyle Beckett (Monroe, Conn.) recorded two assists for the Penmen.
- Junior goalkeeper Matt Roy (North Andover, Mass.) made seven saves in 49:54, while senior John Batchelor (Longmeadow, Mass.) stopped three shots in his ten minutes in goal.
- Bentley held advantages in shots (42-29), ground balls (33-18) and faceoffs (19-8), controlling possession throughout the contest.
- The loss marked the fourth straight for the Penmen after opening the season 4-0.
- Bentley leads the all-time series 31-4 and has won the last seven meetings between the programs.
