FLUSHING, N.Y. – Juniors Casey Cumiskey (Milltown, N.J.) and Jack Davis (LaGrangeville, N.Y.), and senior Dakota Britt (Rockwall, Texas), all of the 25th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team, were selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East All-Region First Team, as three of the six Penmen honorees that were announced Friday afternoon.
Graduate students Jake Pisano (Hamden, Conn.) and Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.), and junior Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.) all landed spots on the Second Team, giving the Penmen a region-best six honorees. Bentley University and Molloy University – the top two seeds in the NCAA Division II East Region Championship – each had five players make the team.
Cumiskey, who collected NE10 All-Conference First Team and NE10 All-Defensive Team honors at shortstop earlier this month, is batting .362 (68-188) with 19 home runs, 65 RBI, 63 runs scored and 16 stolen bases, while slashing .448/.745/1.193. McNamara, who was named the NE10 Player of the Week on April 13 and then chosen as the NCBWA National Hitter of the Week three days later, ranks seventh in the region in home runs, eighth in slugging, and in the top 20 in RBI and runs scored. He is one of seven players in the NE10 with a 1.000 fielding percentage, as he has handled all 72 of his chances in center.
