Junior Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) fired a 4-under 67 to earn individual medalist honors and lead the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team to a season-opening victory over Saint Anselm College on Friday at Candia Woods Golf Links.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Surprenant's 67 was one shot better than the runner-up.
- Fellow junior Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) played third with a 2-under 69.
- Senior Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.) was fourth with a 1-under 70.
- Junior Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 2-over 73 to finish fifth.
NOTES
- Sophomore Charlie Blake (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) carded a 78.
- Junior Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.) turned in an 80.
- SNHU's 279 was 18 strokes better than Saint Anselm and slots in as the fourth best round in school history.
- Surprenant edged Saint Anselm's Brady Warren, who turned in a 3-under 68.
- Each team had six golfers and counted the four lowest scores.
