Senior Amelia Crocombe (Taunton, England) scored the game-winning goal, while sophomore Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) recorded her second shutout of the season, as the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team earned a 3-0 non-conference victory over Saint Michael's College on Wednesday evening at Duffy Field.
KEY MOMENT
After a scoreless first half, Crocombe broke the deadlock at 36:38, putting home a rebound after senior Zoe Demers (Manchester, N.H.) had her shot stopped by Saint Michael's goalkeeper Ronia Foecking. The goal was Crocombe's second of the season.
Demers doubled the lead just 3:21 later, scoring off an assist from junior Natalie Paradzick (Hooksett, N.H.) at 39:59. Freshman Amelie Garssen (Aerdenhout, Netherlands) capped the scoring with her first career goal at 50:06, knocking home the rebound after Demers hit the post. Sophomore Sophie Bilodeau (Milford, N.H.) picked up the assist.
NOTES
- Demers scored her team-leading third goal of the season and finished with three shots on goal.
- Crocombe's game-winner was her second goal of the season. She registered three shots on goal.
- Garssen's fourth-quarter tally was the first goal of her collegiate career.
- Miranda Waigand stopped both shots she faced to record her second shutout of the season and seventh of her career.
- Sophomore Kim Dull (Wilnis, The Netherlands) led all players with 11 shots, including six on goal.
- SNHU outshot Saint Michael's, 29-3, including a 19-2 advantage in shots on goal, and held a 17-3 edge in penalty corners.
- The Penmen have won five consecutive meetings with Saint Michael's and lead the all-time series, 15-6. SNHU has shut out the Purple Knights in each of the last four meetings.
- Wednesday's matchup was a non-conference contest. The teams will meet again Oct. 27 in Manchester in Northeast 10 play.
