Penmen receive goals from five different players in non-conference victory

Sophomore Olivia Andersen (Madbury, N.H.) scored her first career goal as five different players found the back of the cage for the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team in a 6-0 non-conference victory over D'Youville University on Monday afternoon at Larkin Field. 

KEY MOMENT

Sophomore Kim Dull (Wilnis, The Netherlands) struck twice in the opening quarter to give the Penmen an early 2-0 advantage. Dull opened the scoring at 11:36 and added her second goal just 2:41 later. The two goals gave Dull a team-leading four for the season. 

Sophomore Sophie Bilodeau (Milford, N.H.) extended the lead to 3-0 at 18:42 off an assist from senior Amelia Crocombe (Taunton, England), before Crocombe scored at 26:57 to send SNHU into halftime with a 4-0 advantage.

Andersen scored her first collegiate goal at 48:00 off an assist from junior Natalie Paradzick (Hooksett, N.H.), while senior Abby Forbes (Boscawen, N.H.) closed the scoring 1:32 later with her first goal of the season. Crocombe assisted on the Forbes tally. 

NOTES

  • Andersen's fourth-quarter goal was the first of her collegiate career.
  • Dull recorded her first career multi-goal game and now leads the Penmen with four goals.
  • Crocombe finished with a goal and two assists, giving her three goals on the season.  Her nine points (3 goals, 3 assists) leads the team.
  • Bilodeau scored her second goal of the season, while Forbes registered her first.
  • Sophomore Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) made one save for her second consecutive shutout and third of the season. She has now recorded eight career shutouts.
  • SNHU has not allowed a goal in its last 120 minutes of action following Wednesday's 3-0 win at Saint Michael's.
  • The Penmen have won three consecutive games to improve to 5-2.
  • Monday marked the first meeting between SNHU and D'Youville, a member of the East Coast Conference.
  • Prior to the game, SNHU head coach Julie Munson received a commemorative ball from Associate Director of Athletics Nicole Ham in recognition of her 100th career coaching victory. Munson reached the milestone Sept. 6 with SNHU's 2-1 shootout victory at No. 9 Bentley.
  • Monday's contest was a non-conference matchup.

  • SNHU plays the final non-conference game on its regular-season schedule Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m., when it hosts Assumption University at Larkin Field.
