#5 Men's Soccer Breezes to 7-0 Victory at Pace

Fifth year Inigo Burusco (Pamplona, Spain) scored a pair of goals and senior Charlie Preus (London, U.K.) registered a goal and an assist, as the fifth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team rolled to a 7-0 victory against Pace University on Saturday night at Northwell Stadium.
KEY MOMENTS
  • Fifth year Miguel Gimeno (Pamplona, Spain) set the tone by finding the back of the net just 49 seconds into the match.
  • Burusco scored his two goals just 2:17 apart to balloon the Penmen lead to 4-0 in the 20th minute.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire, ranked fifth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25, is 7-0-2 for the second straight season.
  • The seven-goal margin of victory is the largest for SNHU since an 8-1 home victory against Assumption University on Nov. 5 of last season.
  • It is the largest shutout victory since the Penmen defeated Post University, 7-0, on Nov. 23, 2024.
  • After a 7-2 win against Thomas Jefferson University on Sept. 5, this marks the second time this season SNHU has scored seven goals in a match. It is the first time since the 2014 campaign in which the Penmen scored at least seven goals in two separate contests. They defeated Assumption, 8-1, on Oct. 18 and followed with a 7-1 triumph over the College of Saint Rose on Oct. 31.
  • Southern New Hampshire now leads the all-time series with Pace, 2-0-0, and is outscoring the Setters, 13-0.
  • SNHU posts its second straight shutout and extends its shutout streak to 221:19.
  • Fifth year Alvaro Garcia (Barcelona, Spain) stopped all three shots he faced in the opening half. Sophomore Josh Hancock (Windham, Maine) turned away both shots that came his way in the second half. Garcia's personal shutout streak stands at 176:19.
  • Burusco's two goals give him nine on the season. He is tied for the NE10 lead in goals and points (20).
  • Freshman Dani Bujanda (Pamplona, Spain) scored his fourth goal of the season. He is tied for the league lead in assists, while ranking fourth in goals and points.
  • Gimeno now has three goals this year.
  • Preus' second goal of the season is the 11th of his career. His assist tied him for the conference lead (4).
  • Senior Tyler Kraft (Londonderry, N.H.) also has two goals this year and eight for his career.
  • Senior Eduardo Maia (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) netted his second goal of the season and third of his career.
  • Fifth year Alejo Caceres (Cordoba, Argentina) collected a pair of assists and is tied for the league lead with four.
  • SNHU is 169-42-31 (.762) over its last 242 matches dating back to the beginning of the 2013 National Championship season. The Penmen are also 41-6-8 (.818) in their last 55 matches dating back to 2023.
