Fifth year Mollie Cahalane (Merrimac, Mass.) and senior Avary Hall (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) each scored as the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Pace University in its Northeast 10 Conference opener Saturday afternoon at Ouellette Stadium.
KEY MOMENT
- After Cahalane's header pulled the Penmen even at 1-1 in the 32nd minute, Pace regained the lead less than three minutes later on a goal from Alyssa Blanchette. The Setters extended the advantage to 3-1 early in the second half before Hall's 89th-minute goal brought SNHU back within one.
NOTES
- Cahalane scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 32nd minute, finishing a feed from freshman Madison Taylor (Weymouth, Mass.). Cahalane finished with a team-high five shots, including four on goal.
- Hall netted her fourth goal of the season with 1:43 remaining, converting a feed from senior Kate Wall (Douglas, Mass.) to pull the Penmen within 3-2. Hall is tied with Cahalane for the team lead in goals.
- Taylor's assist on Cahalane's goal was her first career point. She also put one of her two shots on goal.
- Wall recorded her second assist of the season.
- SNHU generated 14 of its 23 shots in the second half and finished with a 10-6 advantage in corner kicks. The Penmen and Setters each put nine shots on goal.
- Senior Isabel Hughes (Phoenix, Ariz.) made six saves in goal for the Penmen.
- Pace has won the last two meetings between the teams, while SNHU leads the all-time series, 16-8-2.
- The Penmen are now 71-39-28 (.616) over their last 138 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 campaign.
