Isabel Hughes (Ariz.) stopped nine of the 10 shots she faced, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team was edged by Thomas Jefferson University, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Ouellette Stadium.
KEY MOMENT
- With the game deadlocked in a scoreless tie in the 56th minute, Jefferson put a ball into the box that a Southern New Hampshire defender attempted to head out of danger, but the ball went into the back of the net for the only goal of the match.
NOTES
- Jefferson leads the all-time series, 3-1-1, and has captured three straight. The Penmen had been unbeaten at home against the Rams entering the match (1-0-1), though the teams had not met on the SNHU campus since Aug. 25, 2006 on Larkin Field.
- Hughes has now stopped 36 of the 43 shots she has faced this season for an .837 save percentage that ranks sixth in the NE10. Her 36 saves lead the league by a wide margin, with the next closest goalkeeper logging 11 stops over the same four matches.
