Courtney Burns was named to the SNHU women's basketball staff in the summer of 2015.

Prior to SNHU, Burns served a season as an assistant coach at Southern Connecticut State University.  Prior to that, she spent a season as an assistant coach at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I., where she was responsible for many aspects of the women’s basketball program while working with guards/post players and helping the team win its first tournament since 2009. She also created a strength and conditioning program and helped developed a GNAC All-Conference Third Team selection. She was also responsible for scheduling recruiting trips and film breakdown and exchange.

Prior to her first collegiate coaching experience, she was the Rhode Island College women’s basketball strength and conditioning coordinator and the Youth Strength and Conditioning Coach at Gutcheck in Rockland, Mass.

A former standout at Rhode Island College, she served as team captain as a junior and was named Rhode Island College’s Outstanding Senior Women Athlete. She played overseas in Italy as well as professionally for the Brockton Lady Thunder.

Burns possesses a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a minor in coaching from Rhode Island College.
