Josh Clemens joined the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball program as an assistant coach in the 2024-25 Season.
Before his time in Manchester, Clemens acted as the interim head coach at Allegheny College in PA. Before Allegheny, Clemens spent over a decade at Paul Smith's College in NY. He was both a student-athlete and coach at the college, including four years as the head men's basketball coach and one season as the women’s head coach.
As members of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), The Paul Smith’s Bobcats reached the playoffs in three of Clemens' four years at the helm. The lone exception was an abbreviated two-game schedule played in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Clemens' Bobcats were ranked as high as No. 13 in the USCAA Division II Coaches Poll in 2021-22.
In his year leading the women’s program at Paul Smith’s Clemens helped started a change in the program. Taking a team that was winless in the 2019-2020 season to the semi-finals of the conference tournament, their first-ever YSCC final-four appearance.
In both roles for the Bobcats, Â Clemens mentored four YSCC All-Conference selections in as many years, and three later received USCAA All-America accolades.
As a former student-athlete, Clemens was named captain, the team's William F. Burns Sixth Man of the Year, and a USCAA Academic All-American as a junior. The following year, he transitioned to an assistant coaching role for both the men's and women's basketball teams. He was promoted to head men's basketball coach in June 2019.
A double major at Paul Smith's, Clemens graduated with degrees in entrepreneurship and natural resources management and policy in 2017. He completed his master's in education with a concentration in athletics administration from William Woods University in 2021.
